The 5 Simple Ways to Connect with LinkedIn™ Members

Here is a quick tidbit on how to connect with people on LinkedIn. Not everyone knows, but there are 5 ways to connect with other LinkedIn members.

Before you start inviting people to your network, be sure to send them a message asking if they are open to connecting. Requesting to connect directly to people unannounced may result in them saying they do not know you. If you receive 3 IDK’s (I don’t know), LinkedIn makes it harder for you to connect with friends, making you input email addresses to connect. If it happens 3 times (this is the rumor anyway), they will suspend your account.

5 Ways to Connect with People on LinkedIn:

1. Sharing a group allows you in most cases to send a direct message requesting to connect
2. Sharing a connection will allow you to request an introduction
3. If someone responds to your questions, answers, discussion posts, you can send them a response message
4. Paid accounts allow you to send direct “Inmail” messages requesting to connect or any other purpose
5. Import Feature – You can invite all contacts in your outlook, gmail, msn, yahoo accounts automatically
